Date and Venue: Tuesday 11 March 2025 @ the London Book Fair (Olympia London)

There have been numerous efforts to promote translations of women’s writing in the English-language book industry. This panel, co-organised with the British Centre for Literary Translation, asked whether choosing to translate and publish women is a feminist act, and what else ‘feminist’ translation might entail. What would a feminist approach to translation look like in practice? Is there a place for feminist translation in the contemporary literary landscape?

The speakers were Jozefina Komporaly (translator and academic) and Cecilia Rossi (translator and academic); Carolina Orloff (Publishing Director, Charco Press) was due to speak but unfortunately was not able to be present. The discussion was moderated by Rosalind Harvey (translator).
